How often to water a tall fescue lawn
Most established tall fescue lawns do well with about 1 inch of water a week, including rain, applied deeply once or twice a week in the early morning. Local watering rules come first.
Soil type changes it
Clay soaks slowly — water in two shorter cycles so it doesn't run off. Sandy soil drains fast — water a bit more often in smaller amounts. Loam usually does fine once or twice a week.
Best time of day
Early morning reduces evaporation and lets grass dry during the day, which lowers disease risk.
Count the rain
Skip watering when meaningful rain is forecast. Fescue Rescue subtracts expected rain from your local forecast before suggesting a watering day.
